Electric Fence systems

An investment in electric fencing is an investment in more profitable farming. It’s true that electric fencing takes less time, effort and cost than traditional fencing but it’s as a powerful pasture management tool where it brings most benefit. It gives farmers precise control over feed to allow allocation of pasture and other forages through permanent and temporary sub divisions.

It consists of the following components:

  • Fence energiser– emits a current pulse.
  • Conductor– tape, (plastic) wire, High Tensile or Equifence for conducting the power.
  • Posts– for fitting the conductor.
  • Insulators– insulate the power from the wooden or iron posts, so that it won’t flow to the ground.
  • Earthing– conducts the power back to the energiser when the conductor is touched. This creates a loop.

Electric fencing can be used in many different applications: new, purpose built fences for containment or exclusion of large animals; retrofitting an old fence to extend its life or to protect a new conventional fence; feral animal exclusion and temporary fencing for pasture management and animal control.

How does Solar/electric fencing work?

A short, safe and memorable shock creates a psychological – as well as a physical – barrier. Every electric fence system is made up of a power source and a fencing system. Selection of these systems depends on farm size, fencing usage and animal type.
